Tip 1: Add a fireplace to your bathroom. There is nothing like a nice relaxing soak in the tub in front of a roaring fire. Keep the fireplace off the floor if it is electrical and follow all safety instructions and codes when having it installed.
Tip 2: Add an air bath. Air baths give a much more even and gentle massage than a whirlpool tub does. Air baths are more hygienic than whirlpool tubs because they don’t recirculate water through pipes that surround the tub so there is no water sitting in the lines when the tub is off collecting mold or mildew. Air baths use air forced through tiny holes around the bottom edge of the tub to massage you, but unlike whirlpools they are not supposed to clog.
Tip 3: Put your whirlpool or air bath faucet in your wall or ceiling. There are new special round flushmount tub faucets that are designed to keep a low profile and can be placed almost anywhere around your tub.
Tip 4: Add a round flushmount wall faucet to your vanity. They can be placed in your mirror, wall or even ceiling.
Tip 5: Change your showering experience. Add shower tiles, body sprays, aromatherapy (relaxation through scents), chromotherapy (relaxation through colored lights), rainfall showerheads, a steam shower, a low flow showerhead or a handheld showerhead to your shower.
Tip 6: Replace your old sink with a new vessel or undermount sink.
Tip 7: Replace your old vanity. There are many new styles, sizes and colors of vanities available. Try even using two separate smaller vanities instead of one larger double bowl vanity, it may even save you money.
Tip 8: Update your vanity with a new countertop. Think about replacing that old countertop with a new precut granite, quartz, tile, solid surface or even concrete countertop and add some character to your bland bathroom.
Tip 9: Install an electric floor warming mat. Keep your feet toasty and warm even on the coldest days. You can even retrofit one into your existing bathroom without tearing up the floor.
Tip 10: Replace your old tub or shower surround with tile and add extra character to your bathroom.
Tip 11: Install an HDTV in your bathroom mirror and catch the big game while soaking in your tub.
Tip 12: Install decorative lighting. Switch out your outdated light fixtures or add more light to your bathroom with wall sconces, vanity lights or a decorative bath fan.
Tip 13: Replace your old water guzzling toilet with a new 1.3 or 1.28 gallon per flush model. Save water and money.
Tip 14: Give your bathroom a new paint job. Maybe just a new coat of paint or a new color or faux finish.
Tip 15: Replace your old floor. Add a new tile or stone floor to your bathroom and change the whole look of your favorite space.
