When you're cleaning up your leaves and debris from your lawn don't just bag it and dispose of it. Leaves and yard debris are a homeowners best friend. You can just simply mulch the leaves with your lawnmower and leave them in your lawn to decompose. At first you may notice the mulched leaves and lawn debris, but within two weeks to a month you won't even notice it. If you would prefer to bag it or rake it, then instead of setting it by the curb for your garbage collectors to pick up, turn it into black gold. No I don't mean crude oil or Texas T, I mean compost a homeowners best friend. It is a homeowners best friend because plants love it and it saves them money. If you have the room and your neighbors don't mind you may want to just start a compost pile in one corner of your yard or garden. If you can't you can buy several different containers to stick your compost in or just build one to contain your debris. Compost is rich in many nutrients and can always help your plants, lawn and trees no matter how nice your yard and garden may be. |
