Homes With Character is known for it’s green home plans, furniture plans, home improvement eBooks and green building and green living information. What you may not know is Homes With Character is also a green company in other ways.
Our primary focus on any project or product is to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our plans and eBooks are sold on CD not only for ease of shipping, but to reduce paper waste. The plans can be used right from the CD or in cases printed as needed for specific projects. This not only reduces paper waste on our end, but on yours as well.
We not only promote a green lifestyle, but also live it. We compost our yard and kitchen waste, reuse what we can, use equipment that takes less energy and even use reclaimed lumber in many of our projects. We are consistently trying to reduce our energy usage and make everything more energy efficient.
We continue to encourage the use, invention and manufacturing of innovative new building materials and tools that reduce waste, reuse old material or are manufactured from recycled materials, such as LVL’s, paperless drywall, lithium-ion batteries, bio-based insulation, etc.
We also continue to promote healthier homes, living and working environments through the design and construction of green homes and furniture plans as well as green remodeling and renovation. That also includes the encouragement to use healthier materials and building techniques including tile, stone and hardwood floors, energy recovery ventilators, expanding foam insulation, low odor paints, solid wood or plywood, etc. to improve the health of you, your home, your family and the environment where you live.
We believe in helping others not only complete their diy projects, but also improve their environments where they live. That not only means making their homes green, but also volunteering, donating and just helping other people. After all that’s what Homes With Character has all been about since the beginning.
