Serving the public through our website since 2004. In 2007 Homes With Character moved to its new location in Cadillac, MI. Homes with Character is strictly an internet based design/build firm that sells home & furniture plans, DIY eBooks, etc. and provides Green Building tips to our website visitors and customers. We design with people in mind. All of our designs are green, which means we think about saving people time and money and most importantly we think about their health. We don’t like to waste anything or cause health problems with any of our designs.
Our intent is quite literally to provide accessibility and affordability to the average person to build, remodel, furnish, decorate or build green. With little overhead, we can provide deals on home and furniture plans that most other companies could never think of. We believe in the do-it-yourselfer and believe in giving them the information, tools and advice they need to do home projects themselves.
Since 1997 all of our home plans have exceeded National and International Building Codes. From the very beginning we have strived to provide the best designs for all of our customers no matter the project or the budget. We have consistently specified 6 inch exterior walls, icenyne foam insulation, structured wiring, hardwood and tile floors, 200 Amp breaker boxes, open floorplans, tongue and groove plywood sheathing and LowE windows in all our homes since 1997. We were one of the first home designers to include things like tankless water heaters, fibercement or vinyl siding, rolling islands, zero-clearance woodburning fireplaces and insulated concrete forms in many of our home designs.
Our intent is to target consumers who are woodworkers, do-it-yourselfers, builders or just homeowners looking to do their own home improvement projects. In order to promote and market our products and services we occasionally advertise on search engines, on other websites, on our websites, through brochures and most importantly by word of mouth.
